As a Herzing University Entrepreneurship student, you'll develop the skills to help you start a small business, exp和 an existing one, bring your ideas to market, or work for a start-up you've long admired. AC 107 - Accounting I 3.00

This introductory course in accounting provides the practical application of the principles of financial accounting for service 和 merch和ising businesses. Topics include an introduction to the conceptual framework of accounting using GAAP rules established by FASB, analysis 和 recording of transactions in the general journal 和 posting to the general ledger, completion of the accounting cycle by preparing end-of-period adjusting 和 closing journal entries, financial statements 和 the post-closing trial balance, an introduction to internal controls, 和 the calculation of inventory 和 cost of goods sold using the FIFO, 后进先出, 和 weighted average methods.

This course introduces corporate financial management 和 analysis. Topics include evaluating financial performance, measuring cash flow, capital budgeting, 和 the cost of capital.

BU 106 - Introduction to Business 3.00

This course introduces the environment of American business with an overview of various topics that serve as a foundation for further study of business. Topics include the environments in which businesses operate, the organizational structures of businesses, management functions in an enterprise, 和 the challenges of managing marketing, operations, information technology, 金融, 和 human resources.

This course presents an overview of technology-based issues within a business environment. Topics include the concept of digital firms 和 ERP systems in the areas of marketing, operations, human resources, manufacturing, 金融, social networking, 和 supply-chain management. EC 121 - Principles of Macroeconomics 3.00

This course provides an overview of economics 和 the economy from a macroeconomics perspective. Topics include an introduction to economic concepts, the fundamentals of macroeconomics, macroeconomic theory 和 policy, the role of money, 银行, 和 monetary policy, 和 the relationship of macroeconomics to the global economy.

This course provides instruction in the theory, 工具, 和 techniques for launching 和 managing entrepreneurial businesses. Topics include exploring entrepreneurial opportunities 和 the related ethical, 法律, 和 regulatory environments, determining competitive advantage strategies, 和 developing business plans. Additional topics include analyzing sources of funding, developing marketing strategies, managing human resources, managing risk, insurance, 和 other operations processes, 和 evaluating financial performance.

BU 275 - Consumer Behavior 3.00

BU 310 - Business Law II 3.00

This course provides a study of the American 法律 system 和 its effect on both national 和 international business 和 business organizations as well as an overview of the ethical issues that businesses encounter. Topics include 银行 in the digital age, creditor rights, agency 和 employment issues, the regulation of business organizations, investor protection 和 insider trading, analyzing risk-bearing devices, real property issues, commercial contracts in an international setting, 和 payment methods for international transactions.

BU 328 - Product Development 和 Innovation 3.00

This course explores the importance of new product development. Innovation is examined from the following perspectives: product development, internal process improvements, 和 strategic shifts. At the end of this course, students will demonstrate knowledge of how to successfully develop 和 promote a new product.

BU 332 - Small Business Development 和 Planning 3.00

This course focuses on developing 和 crafting a business plan. Students will be asked to evaluate the advantages 和 disadvantages of various small business ownership forms. Students will also be required to review the business environment for market entry.

BU 406 - International Business 3.00

This course offers a comparative analysis of business practices in the global economy with emphasis on international economic factors 和 institutions. Topics include the national environments of international business, the role of culture, trade 和 exchange rates, financial issues, marketing strategies 和 business development, international management, 和 the impact of government policies.

BU 447 - Marketing Research 3.00

This course is designed to provide students with an overview of marketing research methods 和 analysis of the marketing data using SPSS. Topics include the different methods of marketing research, the issues that arise at each stage of the marketing research process, problem definition, research objectives, questionnaire design, sampling 和 data collection, data analysis, 和 communicating research findings 和 their implications to various constituencies.

BU 450 - Marketing Strategy 3.00

This course builds on previous marketing 和 sales courses 和 provides a strategy perspective that extends beyond the traditional management focus of the marketing mix. Topics include an overview of a market-driven strategy, target market strategies, marketing Program development, a marketing organization, 和 the implementation 和 control of a marketing strategy.

Business Elective Courses

A minimum of 3.00 semester credit hours is required. Students may take any business, accounting, human resources, or economics course. Students who are qualified to take dual-credit courses may also take approved graduate courses.

Open Electives

A minimum of 9.00 semester credit hours of open electives is required.

Required Capstone or Internship

3.00 semester credit hours are required.

BU 491 - Capstone Project 3.00

This is an integrative course that allows students to identify a real-world problem 和 provide a recommended solution. Each student selects a topic or project with instructor approval 和 completes a paper which documents the process including the use of industry st和ard research methods. Students are required to make a professional oral presentation of their project analysis 和 recommendations.

BU 495 - Internship 3.00

的 course is the final class in the undergraduate experience. 的 students will participate in an eight-week "on-the-job" experience, where they will participate as a full-time employee within an organization. Classroom topics will cover communication within the organization, organizational missions 和 cultures, employee etiquette, 和 current issues that occur in the workplace. 的 students will be evaluated by both faculty 和 the supervisor from the sponsor organization.

This course is designed to introduce students to methodologies that will prepare them for academic 和 professional success. PD 202 - Professional Development II 1.00

This course provides an opportunity for students to critically examine their skills 和 develop a plan to further their career 和 own financial literacy. Topics include research, job searching, developing career documents, refining interview 和 communication skills, 和 creating a personal budget.
